Some of my faves tend to be the fantasy that some might call "quirky." You know, those kinds beyond the typical high fantasy like Lord of the Rings--which I LOVE, no worries--the ones that tend to stretch the imagination in strange ways and often in ways that, at a glance, don't seem to really make sense. But that's okay. Sometimes, I think we don't have to understand "why" about everything, just enjoy the beauty of it.
Some of my quirky faves are "The Neverending Story" by Michael Ende and "Dogsbody" and "Castle in the Air" by Diana Wynne Jones. Heck, one might even put "Harry Potter" in this category; all kinds of weird randomness there too. And "Stardust" by Neil Gaiman is another fave.
